What is a database?
The Site Foundry application is based on a MySQL database, and this contains all the textual based data, as well as image linking, and image meta data. It does not include the actual image files.
If your server doesn't have a backup regime, you may want to keep a copy of you're sites database in case anything goes wrong. With the Site Foundry application, you can email a copy of the database to any email address to keep an off site copy.
Email a database backup
- To email a database backup, click on the site features menu item on the top of the page.
- At the bottom of the page, there is a section labelled backup.
- Select any or all the backups from the list labelled restore. Remember, if the databases are large, this process may exceed your email accounts inbox maximum.
- Enter your email address into the field located next to the button labelled Send selected backups to this email address.
- Click Send selected backups to this email address, this will send the email to the email address entered.
