Manage-menus:Menu item parent
From Site Foundry
What is a parent item?
The majority of websites are based around a hierarchical order of pages that go to make up a main menu structure. Therefore in the menu structure, it may be said that one menu item is a child of another menu item (parent) by nature of it sitting underneath in a particular menu structure (in the example below, Things to do is said to be a child, and book an hotel a a grandchild of Rotterdam).
For example, the following is a nested unordered list structure for a website:
- Amsterdam
- Rotterdam
- Things to do
- Places to eat
- Book an hotel
- Cruises
- The Hague
With this simple structure, it is possible for a user to then browse through the site, creating logical connections between pieces of information.
