What you'll need to get started

To get started, you'll need to download the sf_setup.php file. This will show you if your server is compatible with the Site Foundry software. Download the file, and unzip the archive. Upload this to the directory on your server in which you are going to install Site Foundry, it will feed back any issue that you may have.

It is important to make note of the ioncube details. This will indicate what version of the ioncube loaders that you will need to install, or if they are already present on your server. If they, are then you needn't bother downloading them. You can find the loaders here.

You will also need to create a new database on your server. Make sure you take note of its name; and a user name and password to access it.

Step one - download and extract the zip archive

Download the zip archive of the Site Foundry software, and unzip the file into a location that you can easily upload from, to your development server.

Connect via FTP to your server, and transfer via binary mode all the files created from the zip archive to the http root folder on your server.

Step two - upload ioncube

If you need to install the ioncube loaders, you will need to create a folder called ioncube in the root of where Site Foundry has been installed. The ioncube loaders for your server will again be contained in an archive file. If you extract the archive, you will find that there are a number of files that relate the version of PHP you are running on your server (e.g. ioncube_loader_lin_5.2_ts.so for PHP version 5.2). You will need to upload the file(s) that relate to your version of PHP into the folder labelled ioncube in the http root of your server. There are help files contained in the archive file that will guide you through installing it as an extension in PHP.

For example, if your server us an x86 install of Linux, and running version 5.2 of PHP, you would need to upload the following files:

  1. ioncube_loader_lin_5.2_ts.so
  2. ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so

Ensure that you transfer these files via binary mode.

Step three - run the installer

Now use a web browser to view the location that you have installed Site Foundry too. You will be forwarded to an installation page, asking you to enter the database name, its username and password.

If the application cannot write to any directories, these will be flagged, before you can proceed with setting up the application.

Once you have entered these details, submit the form.

If there are any errors during the installation, these will be brought to your attention - so as long as there are none of these, then your installation of Site Foundry is ready for use!

The username is admin@site-foundry.co.uk and the password is password.
